Cloudy With a Chance of Rain
for Em Sherif restaurant
“Cloudy With a Chance of Rain” is a playful way to break from the conventional maamoul* that flood Lebanese markets and restaurants during Easter.
As an ode to the passing clouds that reveal spring time, “Cloudy With a Chance of Rain” is a set of four molds that create a puzzle-like cloud of maamoul, offering the option of four different flavors and stuffings per serving (for sharing…or not).
It was interesting to put both design and gastronomy on the same table, to experience the culinary possibilities the chef was inspired to achieve while using our design medium and concept.
*maamoul: traditional arab filled pastry made with dates, nuts such as pistachios or walnuts and sometimes almonds, or figs. It is often found on holiday tables especially Easter.
Four molds manually carved and turned in oak wood.

Her flavors include: toasted almond, spiced medjool date, walnut rose & orange blossom, sicilian pistachio.
